Cement-based Plaster
A photocatalytic cement-based plaster for covering vertical surfaces that acts as a compound photocatalyser and, in the presence of air, can oxidise atmospheric pollutants and transform them into harmless residues. The application of this plaster initiates processes involving cleaning, anti-pollution and anti-bacterial activities.
The specially selected raw materials provide excellent PHOTOCATALYTIC characteristics.
The plaster is pre-mixed with suitable equipment and is composed of clear-coloured photocatalytic cement, inert lime substances, selected quartz granules and special additives that can be altered with the addition of dyes.
- “Cleaning” effect of pollutants by means of the decomposition of micro-organisms that dirty surfaces.
- High permeability to water vapour.
- Excellent adhesion to surfaces thanks to its “non-film-forming” nature.
- Antibacterial and anti-mould action by means of photocatalytic oxidation-reduction.
- Breathability.
- Transforms pollutants into harmless residues.
- Facings on buildings, balconies, shelters, walls.
- Prefabricated concrete structures.
- Visible concrete and natural stone structures.
- Finishings in semi-closed or closed environments like underpasses, arcades, galleries.
- Finishings in interior environments like kitchens, bathrooms, offices, stairways, public places, technical offices.
Surfaces to be covered or concrete materials must be cleaned of chips, flakes, saline efflorescence, dust and dirt in general. Surfaces to be plastered must be regular and roughened to facilitate application. During warm weather, the surfaces to be plastered will need to be wetted and application during the hottest part of the day or on surfaces exposed to the sun should be avoided.
Substrate preparation
To ensure good adhesion, particular care must be paid to preparing the substrate. The surfaces to be treated must be perfectly clean, solid, free from dust, water, fats and incompatible materials. The substrate must be roughened.
Preparing the mixture.
Prepare the plaster by gradually mixing the powder into 20% of clean water. Mix for 3 minutes with a drill or in a cement mixer until achieving a smooth consistency with no lumps.
Applying the plaster
Spread the product using a stainless steel trowel and smooth off to obtain even distribution. Further layers can be applied using the same method as above once the previous layer is hard but no sooner than 6 hours later. Finishing can be carried out with a smooth plastic trowel or by application with a sponge after a few minutes. The recommended thickness is 1 millimetre giving a covering capacity of 1.4 m2 per Kg of product. The application of more layers will affect the covering capacity.
