FotoSilox Primer
A siloxane-based fixative in a water solution has been designed to improve the adhesion and durability of finishing coats of FotoSilox paint. The primer penetrates the material to offer excellent water repelling and breathing properties. When used in combination with ECOPITTURA® FOTOSILOX and selected raw materials, the primer provides PHOTOCATALYTIC characteristics.
The PHOTOCATALYTIC properties of the formulation allow for the oxidation of pollutants and their subsequent transformation into harmless residual substances.
- “Cleaning” effect of pollutants by means of the decomposition of micro-organisms that dirty surfaces.
- High permeability to water vapour.
- High degree of water repellence and protection from aggressive chemicals.
- Antibacterial and anti-mould action by means of photocatalytic oxidation-reduction.
For any type of new construction materials like wall coverings, cement, concrete, chalk, lime or previous coverings that are in poor condition.
- External surfaces on historic buildings and modern-day homes.
- City centre buildings exposed to high levels of pollution.
- Structures such as underpasses and arcades.
Surfaces to be treated must be dry, clean and even. If necessary, prepare surface for treatment by filling in cracks and compacting brittle areas. Apply using a brush or roller. Substrates to be treated must be dry, solid and of mineral nature or old organic paint.
N.B. You are advised to apply FotoSilox when the weather is good but not in direct sunlight or when it is windy. These factors can prolong drying times and harm both appearance and photocatalytic performance. The paint film normally takes from between 8 – 10 days to dry completely and the effects of rainwater can cause the appearance of ugly translucent, sticky patches. These patches do not affect the protective properties of the product and they disappear when washed or subjected to subsequent rainfall.

Siloxane resin-based paint contains photocatalytic substances including titanium dioxide (TiO²) with PPS (Proactive Photocatalytic System) technology, inert ultra-fine substances and specially prepared additives that meet the specifications of Ministerial Decree (Department of the Environment) dated 01.04.2004
